About Boulton Creek Campground

Kananaskis AB, T0L 2H0 50.633217, -115.100997

Boulton Creek is one of the more popular campgrounds in the Kananaskis country. The sites are very well-spaced and surrounded by the natural forests. You will be sure to find peace and quiet here. 83 spots are un-serviced while 35 are power and water. The campground is surrounded by hiking trails that offer spectacular views. It is recommended to visit the upper and lower Kananaskis Lakes. A canoe or kayak on the lakes would be an unforgettable experience! There is also a series of paved bike trails that encompass the campground. The William Watson Lodge is nearby and has cabins for rent. The lodge provides an excellent opportunity for seniors and those with disabilities to enjoy the area. Check-in is later than usual and is 4pm. If a site has two units on it, the price for the second unit is $2 cheaper than the original cost. Seniors also get a $2 discount on their first unit. Make sure to reserve early in the season to guarantee a spot.

This campground has 118 sites. It is open from May 10th to October 9th.

Always a Great Sta Reviewed on July 14, 2017

Thrilled to be back at Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. First time at Boulton Creek Campground and was very satisfied. We reserved in the A loop and we're very happy with the size of our site and the privacy. Campground managers patrol regularly (every hour). The sites are very well maintained and the rules enforced.
There's a wonderful paved bike trail connecting the campgrounds that is easy and comfortable to ride. Tons of wonderful hiking trails. Our favourite was around the upper lake.
The campground has fabulous hot showers, tokens are $2 for 5 minutes.
The little store and ice cream shoppe are fantastic as well, they take cash, debit and credit.
Also, take the time to stop by the visitor centre at the north end of the park. They have fabulous maps, brochures and a lot of interactive kids activities.
So many fun things to do here. I can't recommend it enough. You can only reserve at Boulton Creek and Elkford. However there are three other campgrounds within minutes, Canyon, Lower Lake and Interlakes. I believe you could easily get a site at the lower lake campground as it is the biggest. However, we've driven around Interlakes campground and it is a GEM!
If you haven't been to Peter lougheed Provincial Park I highly recommend you check it out. You will not be disappointed. At the very least go for a day trip to the day use area at the upper lake. It will take your breath away.

Had high expectations, as lots of people recommended this campground to me and its appears to be booked all the time. We stayed in a loop C, on a corner lot. Good privacy, but the lot is super small. Hiking opportunities are endless. Good experience overall.

Boulton Creek is a nice campground. The location is great (Peter Lougheed Provincial Park) and has some good facilities (a camp store with lots of supplies, ice cream shop and bike, canoe, kayak rental store). We stayed at site A1 and it was nicely private yet still close to the toilets, water and garbage/recycling bins.

The campground has a nice trail that is good for bikes and/or walkers. It's 5km or so, but it's easy trail that anyone could do. It is damaged by flooding and therefore the loop isn't complete anymore. If you're fit I would say cross the river and complete the rest of the trail, however if you are unsure, turn back and return the way you came. They do appear to be rebuilding the trail, but not sure it will be done this season (summer 2015).

This campground is awesome. Lots of trees so you aren't looking at your neighbors all the time. Great hikes nearby and always fun to finish with a ice cream at the trading post!
